Part 2 of our Hopped Up and Horny episode…

Today’s beer is from Horny Goat Brewing Co. in Stevens Point, WI. The beer, it’s called Hopped Up & Horny and it’s pretty good. Also, the Green Bay Packers are SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS yet again!!! GO PACK GO!

Grade: C+

Hopped up and horny on Super Bowl Sunday.

It’s the Super Bowl and we’re hopped up and horny! Well…we’re drinking it at least. Josh is a HUGE fan of the Green Bay Packers and as a result he’s made Brian and honorary Cheesehead for the big game against the Steelers! Today’s brew is from Horny Goat Brewing Co. in Stevens Point, WI…it’s called Hopped Up & Horny and it’s delicious! Enjoy!

We know we know….”you guys have said that before!” yes, yes we have. BUT we have a great new concept lined up that we think will stick. Here’s the idea. We’re going to go to “mostly” video format. Which is awesome because we’re so pretty. Anyhoo, our new videos will be 3:00 or under and they will be unedited. SO if we’re in the middle of something awesome and the 3:00 mark hits….boom……we’re gone……and the video will pick up right where we left off the next time we post. Unedited magic!

So I (Brian) have been spending some time out in Seattle, WA this week. The weather has been amazing and I’ve been spoiled with some really good local brews! Wanted to high light the one I’m drinking right now. It’s the Lazy Boy Brewing IPA out of Everett, WA. Surprisingly, malt is the first thing that grabs your attention! Now, don’t get me wrong, the 3 kinds of hops in this brew are very much a part of the flavour but the malt hits your nose first. It’s pretty cool actually….different…you don’t get hit with a Christmas tree in the mouth when you take your sips. The hops come across floral and a little sweeter than other IPAs. Part two of our Terminal Brewhouse tastings…

Again, HUGE thanks to our buddy Joel (@introvertedone on Twitter). He dropped off two growlers of beer from Terminal Brewhouse in Chattanooga, TN…their Oatmeal Stout and this, the IPA (named Magnum P.A.) which is fantastic! (*note: Josh wasn’t allowed to watch many things on TV as a kid but he was allowed to watch Magnum P.I. which makes this beer even cooler).

Grade: A

Music City Loves You!

Not sure if you all have seen this little gem. But Brian is actually quite the actor. He made an appearance in a short film/commercial for our friends at YAZOO brew a few years back. This is a killer piece that was done simply to say thanks to YAZOO for being in Nashville and to convince them to bottle more of their beers…which….incidentally they have done. Is it because of Brian’s skillz? Probably.

Yep. That’s it! If you want to move to the head of the class, get an A+ or have us talk about you on the internets, all you need to do is buy us beer. We’ve been hoping for a long time that one of our students would decide that he or she would like to be our favorite…and it finally happened!

Aaahhhh the double pale ale. When the hoppiness of a regular pale just isn’t enough :) I will start out by saying that we don’t love everything Flying Dog does, they can be hit or miss at times….. But then again who isn’t hit or miss sometimes?? The Double Dog by Flying Dog is good! It’s actually a lot more drinkable than some double pales. I had it with some spicy food and for some reason that really brought out the malt flavor of the brew. Personally I was expecting more hops so having the malt hit me took some getting used to but I made it through…somehow :) I enjoyed it at The Wild Cow restaurant in East Nashville and I believe it was just 5 bucks! Give it a try. Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale (that’s a mouthful) Grade: B. —brian

Enjoying a Bridgeport IPA this evening. This Portland, OR brew is a wonderful summer IPA in my opinion. Some folks shy away from hoppier beers in the summer but we at BSB would say never be scared of an IPA in the summer! You just have to find the right one. Bridgeport is a great find because it has a little more of a fruity taste that really helps balance the hops. And at 5.5% it’s not too overpowering. It’s an “A” in our book! -Brian
